Best Weightlifting Belts 2019

One of the main reasons to wear a weightlifting belt is to increase intra-abdominal pressure while you are lifting a lot of weight. Stabilizing your inner core is a key component when it comes to stabilizing your spine and allowing you to increase your maximum power levels. Belts are primarily used to prevent injury and support during heavy lifts.

Weight lifters should use a belt for exercises such as deadlifts, squats, snatches, bent-over rows, cleans, and all other standing overhead pressing exercises.
With that said, a weightlifting belt is a “must have” for anyone lifting heavy and are serious with their training.

Most weightlifting belts are priced between $30-80.  If you choose well and take care of it, it will last a lifetime.

We have spent endless hours testing different weightlifting belts in order to recommend the ones we think are the very best for your specific needs, budget, and interests.
We do not get compensated in any form of way by the brands for ranking their products. Our testing and reviews are 100% independent.

Fire Team Fit Weightlifting Belt

Fire Team Fit Weightlifting Belt review

This weightlifting belt is a nylon belt with an adjustable Velcro support system to allow for precision adjustment.
Unlike a leather belt this is more flexible,
it provides you with a rigid level of spine support which works well for CrossFit and exercises that require more movements.
Has a “roller buckling system” to provide the most secure of fits.

The velcro support strap gives the ability to adjust tightness for the desired comfort and support needed for leg and core body exercises.

Perfect belts for beginners because it’s well priced and very comfort to wear, doesnt take too long time to “wear it in”.
However, I would not recommend this for most advanced powerlifters because it’s not thick enough in the front and wont be as good as other belts

PROS
  • Perfect for beginners
  • Adjustable Velcro support
  • Range of colors
  • Well priced
Negatives
  • Not wide enough in the front
  • Not for ultra heavy lifters

RDX Cow Hide Leather 6" Weightlifting belt

RDX Cow Hide Leather 6" Weight Lifting Gym
    • Original Cow Hide leather 6 inch  on the exterior for resilience and provide long life
    • Provides optimum back support
    • Authentic cowhide suede lines the interior to provide cushioning against heavy pressure
    • Reinforced stitching provides sweat wicking ability as well
    • Double-pronged roller buckle for non-slip grip

The padding in the back is just the right amount, which makes this belt very comfortable to wear.

A great belt to wear for CrossFit and excercises with more movements
However I would not recommend this belt for ultra heavy lifts

PROS
  • Form fitting
  • Great for Crossfiters
Negatives
  • Sweat build up within the sleeve
  • Rapidly absorbs odor

There are technically three major categories for weightlifting belts; Cylinder, Contoured and Cone. Each belt has different design attributes to benefit certain types of strength athlete.

For an effective weightlifting belt you will be looking for:

  • Sturdy, durable,
  • Well built leather
  • Tight fit for intra-abdominal pressure

A false perception people have about weightlifting belts is that they think it acts like as a brace to support the torso instead of the core muscle acting as the support; this is not true.
Weight lifting belts will help you to lower back muscle and increase the use of the abs.

The major reason for using a weightlifting belt is to increase both intra-abdominal and abdominal pressure when lifting strenuous or heavy weights.
This pressure keeps the spine from collapsing as you breathe in and hold your breath by pushing your stomach muscles; this is known as Valsalva maneuver.
